Perthes letters published archive JE v. Seidel Sulzbach-Rosenberg
In the summer of 2002 I found out that published archives of the "Seidel'schen bookstore" in Sulzbach-Rosenberg or documents from the time of the company founder, Johann Esaias von Seidel (1758-1827) are located. It was interesting to me than that this bookstore in the early 19th century represented one of the largest in Bavaria, and talked at times an intense relationship with Friedrich Perthes. A similar request from the former owner was answered positively in the remaining 27 letters of letter copy books Seidel Perthes had been recorded in the period 1822-1827.
The chronic shortage of time and the discovery of other documents which illuminated the cooperation between Perthes and Seidel, kept me on the trip from the Upper Palatinate. The more I looked forward, when in the spring of this year, Dr. Markus Lommer, his label home town nurse in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, in my case and reported the conversation thread tied again. As part of the exhibition for the 250th Birthday of the founder could be activated Perthes some quotes for the Festschrift. Finally, prompted Dr. Lommel digitizing the corresponding copy books (my thanks to him and Mr. Franz Meier is in the provincial library Amberg).
A first look at the images promoted interesting details to light - including circulation figures and costs - to produce the register for Graf zu Stolberg FL "History of the Religion of Christ", the Perthes in 1822 led to his trip to Bavaria had.
